Marc Marquez and Joan Mir were able to sample a first taste of what the future may hold during Monday’s post-race test at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
Working late into the night to prepare, the Repsol Honda Team were back out on track early in the day for the last in-season MotoGP test of the 2023 season. The key of the test was the first prototype of the 2024 Honda RC213V, Marquez and Mir each having a bike at their disposal throughout the day.
Marc Marquez enjoyed a shorter, intense day of riding as he completed 63 laps and stopped just before 17:00 Local Time. A best time of 1’31.575 saw the #93 end the day as the 14th fastest rider, although lap times were not his nor the team’s focus. Instead, attentions surrounded gathering information and feeding back to engineers for the continued development of the Honda MotoGP machine.
Joan Mir meanwhile completed 72 laps with a best time of 1’31.687 for 16th overall. Like his teammate, Mir’s objective was gathering data for the future but the #36 also spent some time exploring options for the remainder of the season. With the data gathered, the 2020 MotoGP World Champion is aiming to show progress forward in the upcoming races.
